What is Church Recording?
Church Recorders are NADFAS volunteers who make records of the contents of our national churches, thereby promoting the recognition and preservation of the rich artistic heritage to be found in places of worship of all religions.
The items are described in detail and their history researched. All the material
is then compiled into a book illustrated with photographs and drawings. This is presented
to the church and copies are sent to national institutions.
Over the last two years the detailed recording of the Church of Llangasty Talyllyn,
near Brecon, has been undertaken and is nearing completion (click on this link to
find a detailed description of the church). The Church Recorders have made great
progress throughout the year. Most of the recording has now been completed and it
is all in the hands of the compilers, Ethel and David Joyce. There has been a tremendous
amount of work done by all the recorders for their first Church Recording Project
and they are all to be congratulated.
The group is now looking forward to its new recording project which will be the Havard Chapel in Brecon Cathedral. The Havard Chapel became a War Memorial to the South Wales Borderers (the 24th Regiment of Foot) and the Monmouthshire Regiment in 1923.
The next meeting of the Church Recorders will be at the Havard Chapel, Brecon Cathedral on Monday 30th January at 10.30 a.m. for any new people wishing to join us.
